Book advertising
Advertisements were common in novels many years ago and when ‘Penguins' were first introduced by Alan Lane in the 1930s, advertisements were included in the paperbacks. Another form of book advertising is the insertion of a loose card, used by some insurance companies, readers often retaining this as a bookmark. Promotional bookmarks are used in advertising, PR and marketing directories as annuals and similar publications in other fields.
