Brochure design
A brochure is a powerful and compelling marketing and advertising tool. The brochure design should be completely appropriate to the brochure content, so that a cohesive and solid image is projected into the reader's mind. Since the brochure is your closest chance to presenting your business and services to a potential client (surpassed only by direct meetings at the company HQ or in tradeshows), the content and brochure design have to be perfect. Many graphic design companies and advertising agencies design brochure samples for their clients to choose from. Since there is such a variety of brochure design offers, you have to follow a few basic guidelines to ensure that you get the best brochure for the best price.
Brochure content
The small folded piece of paper should only contain vital information – no clutter. This means that you should highlight your company offers, products and services first, and insist less on company history or irrelevant data. The brochure design should match the type of content you are looking for without affecting legibility. When creating the brochure copy, try to read the text from the client's perspective. You will see that the number one question that comes to mind, as a client, is: “what do I gain from this?”. In other words, your brochure design and content should emphasize the client benefits as a priority.
Brochure design advanced tips
There is often a contradiction between clients and brochure designers: the first usually want to stick in as much information as possible, while the designers advise otherwise. A good brochure design keeps only the vital information and makes excellent use of negative space and photos. A brochure written in font 10 Times New Roman, with single space between lines and an all text flap will be tiring and annoying to the reader. On the other hand, placing the important text on 2 or 3 of the brochure flaps, and using the remaining space for photos and headlines can greatly improve the aesthetics of the brochure design . Another good trick is to use the first flap of the brochure in order to make the reader curious to open it – this can be doe with a photo, question or incomplete sentence. In order to design a good brochure , the graphic artist will need to get some files or information from you, such as your company logo, slogan, text copy etc.
