The final brochure printing files should be saved as Adobe Illustrator files, Corel Draw files or high resolution TIF files. A 300 – 600 dpi (dots per inch) resolution is advisable and the brochure design should aim for a perfect fit between designed flaps and actual paper flaps. For maximum color accuracy, the brochure design files and the brochure printing should be in CMYK.
How to reduce brochure printing costs
Just like with any advertising material that has to be printed in larger numbers, there are a few things you can do to keep printing costs down. Go with a limited number of colors – printers will charge less if the color variation is low. A 2-color brochure (not including white and black, as well as shades of gray) can look great. Of course, using images and photographs might be more difficult in this case. If you are printing a brochure, try to do it in a larger batch – most printers offer better rates per unit as the unit number goes up. Ask for high quality brochure printing however – there is nothing worse than a brochure that looks like it came out of a home printer!
