Free website template offers - are they any good?
Although we won't give out company names or URLs in this article, a detailed inspection of free website template offers is necessary. In most cases, such web templates are offered by companies trying to promote additional services. They might offer you a basic template, at no charge, and present a few other offers on the side. In most cases, the free website template is surrounded by better looking web templates that might convince the client to purchase one. This practice, however, can often be misleading.
Misleading free website template offers
When you see an ad that says you can get a professional web site template for free, chances are you will become interested. Once you reach the site, however, you notice that the free web site template was more of a lure than a valuable offer. The web template itself is often very low in quality and offers very little as far as graphic display and user friendliness are concerned. On the other hand, right next to it you will find great looking website templates - for a price! Of course, when placed side by side with a nice looking web site, the free website template looks unattractive, so no one will want it anymore. This marketing strategy is questionable, since the visitor is fooled into visiting the site where he or she can become a paying customer. Although this is not illegal - they are offering you a free web site template (a crap one though!) - it often feels like an intrusive and aggressive advertising technique which many despise.
